Virutal Midwifery Support FAQs

Online Midwifery & Birth Support

How does virtual birth support actually work?

Virtual support is about having a professional midwife in your "inner circle” without having to go to a 10 minute clinic appointment, sit in a waiting room or have the physical presence of another person in your birthing space. If you choose a birth support package, I’m on call for you from 37 weeks, 24/7. When labour begins, we connect via video or audio call. I guide you through comfort techniques to manage early labour at home, help your partner support you, and, most importantly, help you process clinical suggestions from your hospital team in real time so you can make empowered decisions.

Is this a replacement for my NHS midwife?

No. Your NHS or primary clinical provider remains responsible for your physical medical checks (observations, blood and screening tests, and the birth care of the baby). I am your private specialist consultant, I provide the emotional, educational, and advocacy support that the current maternity system often lack the time to offer.

Are these sessions confidential?

Absolutely. All video and phone consultations and messaging are completely confidential. Your privacy and the sanctity of your birth experience are my highest priorities.

Can you help me if I have a "complex" pregnancy or high-risk factors?

Yes. In fact, virtual advocacy is often most valuable for those navigating complex paths. I help you understand the evidence and guidelines surrounding your specific situation (such as a previous c-section, gestational diabetes, or age), so you can have informed, balanced conversations with your hospital team..

What does "Unlimited Messaging" actually mean?

It means you have a “midwife in your pocket." Between 9 am and 10 pm, you can text or voice-note me with any questions. From “is this symptom normal?" to "I'm feeling anxious about my scan tomorrow." It’s designed to stop you turning to Dr. Google and give you instant, professional peace of mind.

Do you offer payment plans for the larger packages?

Yes. I understand that investing in private care is a significant decision. I offer flexible payment structures via The Midwife Line chat service to spread the cost of the package across your pregnancy. Please mention this if you need it.

What if I change my mind or my birth plan changes?

Midwifery is about flexibility. Whether your birth plan changes from a home birth to a planned cesarean, my support adapts with you. We use our sessions to prepare for every possibility, ensuring you feel supported no matter what path your baby chooses.
